FAQ

Custom food trays questions, answered.

Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order is just 12 trays — one small event is a normal order — with volume tiers for chains, stadiums and canteens.

How fast will my trays arrive?

Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished trays ship in about 2 weeks, with express turnaround available when an opening date is fixed. A new die adds a little at the front on the first order only.

Why do our trays bend when they are loaded?

The rim. A rolled or curled edge turns a flat sheet of board into a beam and is what keeps a loaded tray flat; a plain cut edge has nothing resisting the bend, so the tray folds in the middle somewhere between the counter and the seat. It is a die decision and it costs nothing per unit once specified.

What decides whether trays nest?

The wall angle. It sounds trivial and it is the difference between a stack of fifty being one stack under a counter or two. In a concession stand or a servery that is real floor space, so we quote the nesting height rather than only the tray dimensions.

Why does hot food make our trays soggy?

Grease and steam attack from two directions at once — oil into the board from below, moisture from above. An uncoated board tray goes translucent and limp under hot chips within minutes, and bare moulded fibre wicks even faster. The barrier is the specification and it should be named on your quote rather than described as “coated”.

How many compartments should we order?

Whatever your menu needs. Anything hot and oily wants a full-height divider between it and anything dry; two dry items can share a section. And ask for a sauce well deep enough to hold the base of the pot, because a shallow one tips the moment the tray is carried at an angle.

Do you make hot dog trays or paper plates?

No to both. A hot dog tray is a specific narrow moulded shape and a paper plate is a flat round product, and there are suppliers who do nothing else. Everything we make is an open rigid tray with walls.

Do you make takeout boxes or drink carriers?

No. Closed boxes and drink carriers are different products and we would rather point you at somebody who specialises than stretch what we do. If it closes or holds a cup, it is not us.
