A tray is a high-visibility surface: it sits in front of somebody for the length of a meal and it appears in every photograph they take of the food. It is the best-value branded surface in a foodservice operation.

The print goes onto the flat board before the tray is formed, which means the artwork has to be laid out for a shape it is not in yet. Corners stretch and compress the board, so anything crossing a corner distorts, and a logo placed dead centre in the flat can end up on a wall rather than on the floor of the tray.

We do that layout free and show you a proof on the formed shape rather than on the flat, which is the only proof that tells you anything. Inks are food safe as standard and we will not quote anything else for a surface that food sits on.

Why did our logo end up distorted?

It was laid out on the flat board and crossed a corner. Forming stretches and compresses the board at the corners, so anything crossing one distorts. The fix is a layout drawn for the die, and a proof shown on the formed tray rather than on the flat sheet.

Are the inks food safe?

Always, on anything we print for a surface food sits on, and it will say so on your quote. We do not offer a cheaper non-food-safe option for this product, because there is no situation in which it would be the right answer.
